Jason ministers with two unique groups of people at Shelby Christian Church. He is currently working with Young Adults (19-35) and Senior Adults (55+). This would probably seem odd to some, but it's a natural fit for Jason due to his history with SCC.
Jason has served in a variety of roles since coming onto the staff in June of 1997. He has served as Children's Minister, Student Minister and Activities Minister over the years. During his tenure as Student Minster, Jason had the privilege of working with many wonderful students and adults. Jason was blessed with the opportunity to lead the student ministry through some transitions over the years, including building a small group community and worship environments targeted at middle and high school students. Jason was also blessed with serving alongside a number of great students over the years. He has led over 10 mission trips to places like a children's home in Missouri, Katrina relief in Mississippi and New Orleans, inner-city work in Cincinnati and building projects and evangelism in Piedras Negras, Mexico.
SCC is also Jason's "home church", so he feels a deep connection with the people of SCC and Shelbyville. Jason and his family became members of SCC in 1979 and have been here ever since. His single goal in ministry is to see the people (young and old) of Shelby County fall passionately in love with Jesus Christ.
SCC is also special to Jason because it is where he met his wife Melinda. Jason and Melinda were married in October of 2003 and became parents for the first time in August of 2008. Jason has a new "favorite thing" to do and it's simply hanging out at home with Melinda and their son, Brody. Jason also takes every opportunity to spend time with good friends and family members.
When Jason's not at church he's probably doing one of two things: eating and/or watching a ballgame. Jason's favorite restaurants include: P.F. Chang's, The Melting Pot, Longhorns Steakhouse, Mark's Feed Store and BW3's. Jason is also a life-long fan of the Kentucky Wildcats, the Cincinnati Reds, the Boston Celtics and the Dallas Cowboys.
